Augmented movement

2025

Azurea

Augmented movement is an interactive installation showcasing Azurea’s expertise in the manufacturing and assembly of micromechanical components. Through a macro camera and an advanced image recognition system, each movement, encapsulated in a transparent sphere, is magnified in real-time on a screen alongside detailed information, thus unveiling the full intricacy of Swiss watchmaking.

It was first shown at EPHJ – the Precision Industry Fair at Palexpo and later be showcase to internal teams as well as at other fairs.

Each part or assembled set of components is enclosed in a transparent acrylic glass sphere, acting both as preservation and allowing visitors to safely handle the delicate elements. These spheres can be placed on a lit opening integrated into the installation, where a macro camera and advanced image recognition system capture the object in real time. On-screen, the movement is magnified and augmented with contextual information detailing its function and placement within a larger mechanism.

To the right of the screen, an exploded view of the movement and its related components is displayed, encouraging further exploration through nearby spheres. A touchscreen interface allows visitors to open or close this exploded view, deepening their understanding of the intricacies of Swiss watchmaking.

This immersive experience reveals the fine finishing and mechanical interplay behind each component, offering a new aesthetic and educational perspective on micromechanical engineering.
